Intro To Shofar

Learn about the customs and laws of blowing the shofar: Who can blow shofar? What makes a shofar kosher for use? What are the types of sounds to be produced and their different lengths? What are the blessings made over the shofar? (A variety of different shofars, and techniques of blowing will be demonstrated.) For those who are curious about becoming a ba’al tokeah, or simply want to understand more about this special mitzvah. Open to males and females of all ages.

Emma Lazarus is best known for her famous poem, “The New Colossus,” inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty. 

Chatham Square Cemetery

The oldest of our extant cemeteries is known as the Chatham Square Cemetery.  It is located in Chinatown at 55 St. James Place.  The land was originally purchased in 1682 by Joseph Bueno de Mesquita.
