Mental Health First Aid Training

held at Lincoln Square Synagogue, 180 Amsterdam Ave

Sunday, February 9, 10:00AM - 6:00PM

After Shearith Israel's highly attended Smash The Stigma event last year, we knew there was a deep communal need for more mental health oriented events, and we are proud to be a part of this one.

Mental Health First Aid training provides proven practices that will help you recognize the early signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance misuse. You will learn how to listen without judgment, and respond to and help someone in distress until they can get the professional care they may need.

Certificate of completion will be presented to participants. The training will be a mixture of lecture style and breakout sessions, facilitated by a mental health professional. Lunch will be provided.

This event is FREE, but space is limited to 60 participants, so sign up today!

Chatham Square Cemetery

The oldest of our extant cemeteries is known as the Chatham Square Cemetery.  It is located in Chinatown at 55 St. James Place.  The land was originally purchased in 1682 by Joseph Bueno de Mesquita.

Omer Board

Shearith Israel’s “Omer Board” dates back to the Mill Street Synagogue of 1730, and may indeed go back to the early years of the Congregation’s history.
