High Holidays 5782 Seating Reservations

This year, Rosh HaShana begins on Monday evening (Labor Day), September 6, through Wednesday, September 8, and Kippur is on Wednesday evening, September 15 and Thursday, September 16.

OUR AUGUST 16 RESERVATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED, AND WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY AT BOTH OUR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SERVICES.

TO BE ADDED TO OUR WAIT-LIST, PLEASE EMAIL SARAH GROSS AT SGROSS@SHEARITHISRAEL.ORG.

WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE, BUT SAFETY REMAINS OUR TOP PRIORITY.

This year’s services will not be exactly the same as years’ past, but they will be festive and special, and they should, for the most part, look and sound like Shearith Israel. And best of all, most of us will be able to worship together as community.   Our goal is to offer options that accommodate our members (and guests) in a setting that is most appropriate for your circumstances, is uplifting for all, and ensures the safety of our entire community.

We are offering both Indoor Services in our Main Sanctuary and Outdoor Services next door on Paved Paradise. You will be asked to specify which venue you prefer. We are delighted to announce that the Choir will be with us for the entire High Holiday season, Rosh HaShana through Shabbat Bereshit, and they are scheduled to spend time at both the Indoor and Outdoor Services. Similarly, our clergy: Rabbi Soloveichik, Rabbi Rohde, and Reverend Edinger, will be spending time at both locations.

Please review all the reservation instructions below. Bear in mind that our plans are subject to change.

  • All Members are asked to respond: All Members, even if you DO NOT intend on reserving any seats for Rosh HaShana or Kippur, we very much want to hear from you and ask you to click here to let us know. That way,we can better gauge our capacity and accommodate as many members and guests as possible. Remember: you need to be logged in to your ShulCloud account in order to submit the form. If you need assistance logging in to your account and/or completing your seating reservation, please contact Sarah Gross at sgross@shearithisrael.org.

  • Selecting your venue: The reservation form will ask you to submit your preference for 1) Indoor Services in the Main Sanctuary, or 2) Outdoor Services next door to the synagogue on Paved Paradise. Both options are being offered to Full and Associate members this year and we will accommodate everyone to the best of our ability. If you are requesting seats in addition to your membership allotment, you will be asked to pay at this time. Prices are the same for either venue. See pricing details below.

  • Receiving your confirmation: While we hope to honor your requests, you will receive a confirmation and your ticket(s) closer to the holidays (subject to reaffirming our health screening questions).

  • Childcare, Youth Programming, and seating for Youth: We hope to offer High Holiday childcare and youth groups this year but will be following the guidance of our health advisors.  Please be sure to indicate your interest in youth programming on the registration form so we can gauge demand. You may also request seats for your child(ren) below Bar/Bat Mitzvah, provided they are healthy and can sit with their parent for the duration of the service and remain properly masked.

  • Travel Protocol:  As of now, our protocol is:

    - If you have traveled by air internationally or domestically within 7 days of attending services, irrespective of your vaccination status, you must present a COVID-19 test with negative results taken at least 3 days (72 hours) AFTER your arrival in NY.

    - If you are coming to services within 7 days of traveling, even if you have a negative test, you need to wear a mask and sit in the Masks Required section.

    - If you arrive less than 3 days in advance of services and cannot meet the testing requirement, provided you are symptom-free and satisfactorily complete our health screening, we welcome you to join our Outdoor service where you will be seated in the Masks Required section.

RESERVATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, AUGUST 16
