Husband of the late Eva (Ochs) Haberman, ע"ה

Father of Susanna Stiefel (Michael) and of Seth Haberman (Jennifer Ash)

Brother of the late Jacob Haberman, ז"ל


The funeral will be held on Friday, October 1st, at 9:30 am
outdoors at Congregation Shearith Israel (8 West 70th Street.)
(Vaccinations and masks required.)
The funeral service will be live-streamed via zoom:

Burial to follow at Shearith Israel's cemetery in Ridgewood, Queens, located at the intersection of the Jackie Robinson Parkway and Cypress Hills Street. Click here to use google maps for gps directions.


Shib`ah will be observed through early Thursday morning.

Visiting will take place outdoors at Shearith Israel (8 West 70th Street.)

Visiting hours:

Saturday (Motsa'e Shabbat) 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
Sunday 8:45 am - 12:00 pm; 3:30 - 6:00pm; 7:00-9:00 pm
Shahrit at 8:05 am; Minha at 6:15 pm.
Monday - Wednesday 7:45 am - 12:00 pm; 3:30 - 6:00pm; 7:00-9:00 pm
Shahrit at 7:05 am; Minha at 6:15 pm.


Virtual visiting hours will take place from 2:00-3:00 pm (Sunday-Wednesday)

Chatham Square Cemetery

The oldest of our extant cemeteries is known as the Chatham Square Cemetery.  It is located in Chinatown at 55 St. James Place.  The land was originally purchased in 1682 by Joseph Bueno de Mesquita. 

Gershom Mendes Seixas

Gershom Mendes Seixas (1745-1816) was the first American-born spiritual leader of Shearith Israel.
