ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSED, WALK-INS WELCOME ($25) | The Travels of the Torah: From Spain to Portugal, From Amsterdam to America

A Year of Years Event

Tuesday, September 10, 6:00PM

Join us for an unmissable event, marking 365 Years of Judaism in America, featuring a historical ceremony and lecture by Rabbi Meir Soloveichik.

The program will include:

  • The unprecedented return of our three precious sets of Myer Myers rimonim, which will be exhibited together for the first time;
  • A majestic welcoming and rededication ceremony of a newly and meticulously restored centuries-old American Torah with accompaniment by the Shearith Israel choir;
  • A historic reunion between descendants of Don Isaac Abarbanel, one of the greatest Sephardic rabbinic figures of all time, and certainly the greatest Jewish Portuguese figure of all time, and His Royal Highness, the Duke of Braganza;
  • Rabbi Soloveichik's keynote lecture, The Travels of the Torah: From Spain to Portugal, From Amsterdam to America.

The Torah we will be using in this ceremony is the first of several centuries-old scrolls that we have begun to restore, thanks to the generosity of early supporters. Opportunities are available to attach your name and those of loved ones to this important historic Torah rededication project.

Attire: Dignified Business, appropriate for greeting dignitaries and the Torah.
