Featuring Author, Rachel Kadish

Wednesday, October 18, 7:00PM

The Weight of Ink is as historical novel set in the Portuguese-Jewish communities of 17th century Amsterdam and London. The process of researching and writing the book took author, Rachel Kadish, deep into vibrant areas of Jewish history. Join us as she launches her new book and describes how she spent years researching everything from Spinoza to types of iron gall ink to the education of women in the Sephardic Jewish communities of the time, all in the service of telling the story of a Portuguese-Jewish woman with an unconventional mind.

Rachel Kadish is the award-winning author of the novels From a Sealed Room and Tolstoy Lied: A Love Story, and the novella I was Here.  Her work has appeared on NPR and in the New York Times online, Ploughshares, and Tin House.
