Zaki Cooper, our recent guest speaker at our British Invasion Shabbat Dinner talks about Shearith Israel in the the Jewish Chronicle.  Zaki Cooper worked in the Buckingham Palace press office from 2009 until 2012 with a special focus on the Diamond Jubilee.

The Jewish Chronicle - often known as the JC – was founded in 1841, is based in London, with reporters around the world.

 

Twenty First Street Cemetery

In August of 1829, Shearith Israel’s third cemetery was consecrated.  It was located on Twenty First Street just west of Sixth Avenue

Crosby Street Synagogue

 In 1834 the congregation built a new synagogue on Crosby Street, between Broom and Spring Street.
